As to why I've not been producing any art, other than for the before mentioned reason, I have been on an art break. I've been trying to live life carefree and clear my head of all that preconception by playing games, reading books, and watching movies. It's helped me to take a step back and realize what art is really about: Enjoyment. Sure, if you can make money with your craft, or give art gifts to your friends, that's great! But! That should never be your sole reason for making art. Those are goals. Goals are fine and all, but when it comes down to it, they're just endings. If all you do, when making art, is focus on the ending then you've made it into your "job". In a way, it's kind of like a story. Sure, stories have beginnings and endings, but without the journey the ending is nothing but a hollow fragment filled with names and faces you only half remember down the road. Stories, art, and even life are all about the journey. Why? Because that's where the excitement, fun, and originality happens! Success is truly bland because there are only so many ways to succeed, and because everyone defines themselves by their success. Sometimes life is better lived when you're making mistakes and learning things from them. Besides, those mistakes make success all the sweeter when you find it. I had just gotten so wrapped up in trying to make my art succeed, that I never realized that art is about the journey. It's the journey your pen makes across the page, the journey inside your heart and mind, and the journey you take from start to finish.
Even though I am making art again, I have no projects that I would like to announce, because I don't want any commitment right now. You may or may not see any art from me sometime soon, but it's all up in the air. Just don't forget I exist!
